Expectations For Next Year

After an outstanding performance in the Champions League two consecutive years in a row, will Liverpool be able to maintain their dominance in world football? With many young talents being bought by better teams, and chemistry beginning to rise, Liverpool should be seeing similar faces with much more talent come next year.

One team to keep an eye out for is Chelsea, from the English Premier League. This season they finished third in their league, placing them an automatic bid into tournament. Chelsea is coming off of a convincing Europa League Final win against Arsenal 4-1. The only thing going against them is that there is a high chance they lose their star player, Eden Hazard, who may sign with Real Madrid.

Another team to be on the lookout for next season is Juventus. Many people believe they fell short of where they should’ve reached in the Champions League, being eliminated in the quarter-finals by Ajax. But Juventus has another year of building chemistry with their star addition Cristiano Ronaldo, and should have development from their young talents, Dybala, Costa, and Kean.

As always, I believe Paris Saint Germain should make it to at least the semi-finals. This year they fell much shorter than anticipated, being one of the most favorited teams in the tournament. With young talents and many veterans they should be well rounded for next years tournament.

My prediction for next season might be bold but with the teams how they are right now this is how I believe the tournament will pan out. Remember the lottery might not allow these matchups to occur so this is all hypothetical and if the lottery went along with my prediction. I believe the final four will be Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint Germain, and Manchester City. I believe Liverpool will not be able to maintain their level of power three seasons in a row, and I believe Tottenham isn’t even a top 10 team in the world.

If these 4 teams were in fact to make it to the semi-finals I believe Manchester City would face Juventus in the finals. Both Barcelona and Paris seem to fail in the final 3rd in big games so I do not think they would outplay either of these teams. And as for the winner, even though Manchester City might be the better team, I believe with Cristiano Ronaldo’s years becoming limited in the sport, he will take full advantage of the opportunity. So there it is. Juventus is the 2020 Champions League winners. I can’t wait to see how wrong I am.
